First and foremost, I am a Mother of a teenage boy and a Software Consultant.Back when I was pregnant my weight sky-rocketed to 210lbs. Partially because I was working for a company that required 12 hour days with meals delivered from local restaurants (like Chili’s) directly to our desks (cold). I hated this job and very soon would begin to hate it even more once my baby was born! The other part of my weight gain was because, like most people, I did not know anything about proper diet and exercise.Eleven months after Brandon was born, I finished nursing and my weight was down to 160lbs. Still uncomfortable in my skin, I knew I needed to do something for myself now. So I bought P90x. This was exactly what I needed to get my energy and strength up!A few months later, I put my boy in a jogging stroller and off we went…around the block that is. I remember the first time we actually made it a whole entire mile! It was the 1st full mile I had ever ran in my life! But it would not be the last!I ended up running 9 half marathons and 2 full marathons in 16 months! Running began to help me maintain mental and physical balance.~Transitional Period~At a local 5k, I met a trainer who told me that if I continue to run this much I will lose muscle. He asked if I wanted the body of a long distance runner? Before this point, I had never thought about muscle loss and was too consumed with logging miles. But, I did know that a long distance body was not one I personally wanted. This trainer mentioned the NPC (National Physique Committee) and I was intrigued. I was in need of a serious motivator and began to research the industry. However, I was soon to learn that it took more than just cardio to compete!I was now learning about macro nutrients, weight training, carb cycling, posing, spray tanning, bikini suits, hair extensions and let’s not forget about peeing in plastic cups!Ironically, what I eventually gained was the confidence that I had been searching for all along! This website is for you! Share in my experiences and Empower your lives with the many things I have learned along the way! My Goal is to empower others to also take control of their lives now~! ~Melissa~
